Almost February

This week just flew by. We had a girls lunch for Louise who left for home early this morning. Then we all had an ice cream and walked the pier over the Laguna Madre. As we were relaxing after, a couple walked by and I did a double take. It turned out to be a couple from Rockfest who were down in Brownsville at a time share. They came over later for a drink and started looking for a place in this park. It is so cool to see people from home unexpectedly.

Then, I had to whip up an appetizer for the appetizer party/show later in the afternoon. I made my ham puffs which went over well. The show was with Debby Horn, who sang 'My Boyfriend's Back' in the 60's. She was awesome. At the end, when she did her signature song she asked for volunteers to be 'angels' on the stage to sing backup. After a bottle of wine, Margarita's urge to sing and dance took over and she volunteered. Mary did too, which was a surprise to the rest of us, but they were a great team. I hope to have a few pictures soon.

Wednesday I played golf with the ladies, almost 60 of us. It was best ball so I did not feel intimidated by my lack of golf skill! We didn't win, but had a lot of fun. That is the goal, right!

We played pool that evening and met a couple from Killarney, near home. We went to their place for a drink and chat. Thursday morning Loui9se and I did crafty things for a few hours with the ladies, then back home for a half hour to make some calls to help Greta and Larry (Rockfest couple) find a place, then to the library to work my weekly 2 hour shift. Greta and Larry met me there and we went off to check out a few places. They took one, came back here, then I headed off to Mary and Bill's for a Happy Hour. Blaine was out golfing at a course in Brownsville, so made it later. I was pooped by day's end.

Friday, I went to quilting

and Mary helped me layout my Bento Box quilt.

Our quilt show is next week-end and we had a committee meeting.

That night we played cards as usual. On the way home, we noticed the moon. I don't remember ever seeing rings around it like this before. I coulnd't get the hole thing in one photo:

Yesterday, I cooked up a storm, as it was chilly and windy. After Greta and Larry got settled, they came for supper.

It sure sounds like we drink and party alot! It just sounds that way, as many times, Blaine and/or I just have water.

Today we are off to see the kites at Kitefest on South Padre Island. It is a bit chilly and windy but we will bundle up and hopefully see another fabulous demonstration.

Have a great week!

Pelican poop party

We were sitting outside yesterday and there was a gush. We looked down to the lower deck and this is what we saw!

I want to be a dancer

This youtube video will surely get you dancing in your seat!

The neatest card

I just love the good bye card I received from my former colleagues.

Retreat Quilt

In the fall Kim and I went to the annual quilt retreat put on by the Quilter's Cottage in Stonewall. Fun, fun, fun. Quilt all day, party all night, with an interesting, hilarious group of gals.
Kim and I took the Bent Pieces class. It is free style cutting and after one practice round, I was good to go. This lap quilt used 16 fat quarters. The fabric for the blocks is cut and the leftovers are used for the inner border and binding. Once the blocks are sewn. they are trimmed and the leftovers used for the outer border. Viola, top done.
I quilted in the ditch between the blocks and then followed the curves in the blocks and went across.
An easy, fun quilt.
